“ We've been here 3 times so far, and each time it somehow gets better. The food is Quebec on a plate. Everything is sourced as locally as possible, working with small producers and farms. The creativity of the food is remarkable, but the concept never sacrifices flavor. I recommend putting your meal in the hands of the knowledgeable and wonderful staff. This last time, we sat at the bar and our experience was orchestrated by our server. She put together a series of small plates based on our likes, and everything was just perfect. The flavors, the quality, the presentation - outstanding! This is a must visit if you're anywhere in the area. Be advised, you NEED reservations. Enjoy! ”

Anyone rating this less than 5* is either an authentic and experienced world travelled gourmet critic with amazingly high standards (good for you) or just a mon oncle / ma tante who cannot distinguish the delicacies and subtleties that Baumier offers from the Quebec pride « roteux-poutine - Pepsi » that they have been fed as kids and since then ruined their crossbreeding palate. Highly recommended and as exquisite as simple and relaxed. Very inventive cuisine and rare wines that can drive the total price up quickly but truly justified. Warning: not sure they serve cretons but they have beans. What’s not to like. ”

That said, the portions are far too small. I understand and appreciate the pricing that comes with high-quality products—but they’re not operating in downtown New York.
